Message from Rusty the TD:

The captain's meeting will be at 8:30am at John Hunt park (same place as last year).

Remember that Huntsville is in Central time zone, but you should consider not telling that to habitual late-shower-uppers if you are driving from the Eastern time zone.

It is important to have someone at the captain's meeting. Because of the rule change on roster size etc, there will be some explaining to do that someone from your team needs to hear and be able to relay to the rest of your team. Send someone that you trust.

The first round of games start at 9:00am.

The schedule will be the same as last year (4 pools of 6 teams, 6 pool rounds on Saturday, 2 pool rounds on Sunday, top 16 elimination bracket, bottom 8 B pool elimination bracket). In each pool there will be 2 teams with a bye each round. Each team will have 2 byes in pool play however for some teams both byes will be on Saturday and for some teams there will be one bye on Saturday and one bye on Sunday. At least 4 Huntsville teams will have a bye the last round Saturday so that they can go home and get their side dish prepared and bring it back to the field.

I will make my best attempt at setting the pools and thus the schedule by tomorrow (Wednesday) night.

If you have a first round and you live within 3 hours of Huntsville(possibly 4 hours if you are in the eastern time zone) you may be able to sleep at home Friday night. Do so at your own risk. Any further away than that you should probably come on to Huntsville Friday night.

If you do not have a first round bye and still choose to sleep at home on Friday night and you are late to the first round game on Saturday your opponent can asses points against you if your team is not 'reasoably ready' to play at 9:00am or so. How often and how many points can be assessed by your opponent will be established at the captian's meeting. If your team is not present at the captian's meeting to find out how the point assessing works you will be at the mercy of the team who did attend the captian's meeting and is now assessing points against you for being late.

But on a serious note, Please remember that this tournament is about playing friendly, fun and competitive ultimate. Nationals are over, it's time to play for the fun of it. Not just your personal fun or your team's fun, but for your opponent's fun as well. If there are disagreements about plays, calls, in/out of bounds please resolve them respectfully. There is no need for bad calls and heated arguements or for show boating against inexperienced teams. Please play the game the way the rules read. "Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect among competitors, adherence to the agreed upon rules, or the basic joy of play."

This is not an elite tournament. There will be inexperienced players and high school players at this tournament so please set a good example for them. Please pass this on to your team.

After all, it's really all about the Turkey.

Thanks,
Have a safe journey and see you Saturday morning.
